The family have been squatting at Leopard's Den as they prepare to make their last stand to prevent the bulldozers from destroying their home. Du Plessis and Fatani bring elephants and a giraffe to dissuade the construction crew from moving in.
After the devastating loss of Leopard's Den, the family are split across continents. Caroline, Liv and a heavily pregnant Alice are in the UK, while Danny and Du Plessis have remained in South Africa.
Danny returns to South Africa with Caroline, Liv and Charlotte. They are all excited to be back and are looking forward to seeing their new home, Clearwater Farm.
Danny has been preparing his pitch for an Endangered Species Project. JLW, a pharmaceutical company, are looking to fund an environmental project and the family hope that this grant money will enable them to buy Leopard's Den and Mara.
Danny and Ed release two cheetah brothers together, a symbol of their new partnership, but not all of the family are happy about this new start. Caroline is still furious at what she sees as Danny's betrayal of Du Plessis.
The family are still estranged following Caroline's decision to move back to the decrepit Clearwater house with Du Plessis. Rosie is determined to reunite everyone, and plans a civilised dinner as a step towards reconciliation.
Danny is in prison, accused of murdering Peeters, but Du Plessis is determined to prove his friend's innocence by any means he can. Du Plessis' first attempt backfires disastrously when he harangues a police officer and ends up in a cell next to Danny.
With Danny away, and Du Plessis undertaking an ignominious stretch of community service, Ed is left in charge of running the Endangered Species Project.
Danny and Ed are anxiously preparing for a review with JLW, the pharmaceutical company that fund their Endangered Species Project. They are desperate for it to go smoothly, and as a result are driving the rest of the family mad.
Following the loss of their funding, the family are in dire financial straits. Danny and Ed attempt to get an extension on their mortgage but are refused. Fiona spurs Ed on, telling him that the man she used to know would have a plan for survival.
Strange things are happening at Leopard's Den. The family awake to find frogs everywhere, seemingly having rained down overnight; the giraffe refuses to budge from the front gate and the cheetah is off its food.
Contending with overweight cats and their over protective owners was not what Danny Trevanion had in mind when he became a vet. So when a scruffy, barely alive African monkey arrives at his practise Danny is fascinated by the challenge.
New Year's Eve at Leopard's Den. Alice has returned, but the stress of combining work with caring for baby Bobby is causing tension between her and Danny. Liv is furious that Fatani hasn't told his mother about their relationship.
Danny is having second thoughts about the wisdom of uprooting his new family and ploughing all their money into a business venture that they know next to nothing about.
A successful giraffe capture means everyone is in high spirits, until the arrival of Evan and Olivia's real father, Simon, throws the family into turmoil.
Evan lets the mischievous meerkats loose in Rosie's room to cause havoc. Rosie is devastated when they destroy an irreplaceable photograph of her mother and rages at Evan. She decides once and for all to go back to Bristol.
Rogue young male elephants are rampaging through Leopard's Den and destroying everything the family have built, so Danny introduces a matriarch elephant in the hope that she will calm them down.
At a typically rowdy family breakfast, Rosie is excitedly looking forward to the arrival of her friend Izzy, whilst Danny is concerned about the rumour of ivory poachers in the area. Unnoticed, Miranda the lion cub pads off into the bush.
The Trevanions have been living at Leopard's Den for over a year. The wildlife is roaming freely and the family are settled into African way of life. Business however is not good. With an abundance of game lodges competition is fierce.
It's the grand reopening of Mara and a British wildlife charity is using the event to release a vulture back into the wild. Fatani, the new, young and ambitious manager of Mara has hired Danny as the vet to oversee the release.
Leopard's Den is looking after a sick and orphaned baby elephant called Togo. However, despite Evan and Du Plessis' constant vigil, Togo is dying from a broken heart. Evan is distraught and Du Plessis promises they will look after her together.
Sarah's absence couldn't have come at a worse time for Leopard's Den. Nature Conservation is carrying out their annual inspection and everything has to be tip top. Danny's determined they pass with flying colours and everyone is roped in to help.
Everyone's excited at the prospect of Leopard's Den's new arrival. Bash, Danny's old tutor and Rosie's Godfather, is coming from England to help Danny grow his veterinary practice.
The Trevanions are delighted when Fatani asks Danny to take an aggressive hippo off his hands. As they prepare for its arrival Sarah gets a bit of a shock when her mother Caroline beats the hippo to the post.
Business is looking up at Leopard's Den but Sarah is feeling agitated. Caroline thinks it because Simon, her ex husband and Evan and Olivia's Dad, is arriving from England to get married. But Sarah has other things on her mind.
Danny is undertaking a drugs trial at Leopard's Den. But de-worming wildebeest isn't Caroline's idea of fun. She hates animals and finds the whole business mind-numbingly boring.
Du Plessis is in a foul mood. It's his 60th birthday and he has no intentions of celebrating it. But the Trevanions have other ideas and Caroline is organising a surprise party.
All is quiet at Leopard's Den as Sarah, Evan and Olivia gather at the hospital. Danny has been given the all clear to go home. But Du Plessis is still unconscious and seriously ill. Caroline keeps a tender vigil at his bedside.
New lodges nearly break the family, but they learn that it's the animals which make Leopard's Den a success.
